OEKO-TEX® STeP:
Responsible production
for people and planet.

OEKO-TEX® STeP certification sets the highest standards for both social and environmental aspects of textile and leather production, as well as for industrial laundries. This certification is a sign of responsibility towards employees and the environment, and supports a company’s journey towards more sustainable production.

These are the benefits

  • Certification for all facility types in the entire textile and leather production. From fibre manufacturing to spinning or tanning to finishing and making-up.
  • Network of over 25'000 certified companies around the world for easier sourcing of chemicals, materials and business partners along the textile and leather chain.
  • Recognition of existing third-party standards and certifications e.g. BSCI, FWF, SA8000, ISO 14001, ISO 9001.
  • Additional exposure is provided by listings in the ZDHC Supplier to Zero or the BHive® App from GoBlu.
  • Cooperations with industry partners like ZDHC, GoBlu, SLCP, SLF are implemented in the certification.
  • The certification includes the Impact Calculator, a tool which calculates the carbon and water footprint of a facility and shows where proactive measures can be initiated to reduce the industry’s environmental footprint.
  • STeP certification enables you to apply for the OEKO-TEX® MADE IN GREEN product label.

The STeP certification drives progress and empowers supply chain actors to embrace sustainability, strengthen their competitiveness and improve their economic position. STeP analyses all important areas of a facility using 6 modules:
